Valentine’s Day Courthouse Elopement in Lexington, Kentucky

My sister Erin and her husband Ji got married one year ago on Valentine’s Day. That morning, we started at one of my vendor friend’s house where Erin got ready. Katie is the owner of Hair by Katie Carbajal and if you’re in need of wedding day hair, I highly recommend her. We spent the morning getting ready with Katie’s daughters, who definitely wanted to spend time playing with our makeup. I did Erin’s detail shots at Katie’s house and took a few solo portraits before heading to the courthouse in downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Erin is one of the most stylish brides I have ever seen (I guess I might be biased because she is my sister). She wore a lace ivory jumpsuit with an incredible ivory wide-brim hat. This was perfect for sporting a side braid, Elsa style. Her bouquet was from Ephemeral Florals.
Me, my sister, mom, my nephew, my sister’s husband, and her best friend headed up to the conference room where the judge was going to perform the ceremony. It was short and sweet, exactly what they had wanted for their elopement. Afterward their elopement ceremony, we headed to get drinks at Corto Lima before our reservations at the Lockbox in the 21C Hotel in Lexington. My mom joined us at Corto Lima but left shortly thereafter to take my little nephew home.
I think people often don’t think they need portraits for their elopements, let alone a court house elopement. An elopement is just as important as a wedding day and there is so much work that goes into curating your perfect elopement day. Ultimately, you are getting married and you deserve to have your vows and your details captured.
